Links and Real Estate Websites

Links are what made the Internet what it is today. They take you to fabulous places all over the Internet. Your real estate website should have links. But there are some link do's and dont's.

The Do's

  • Do-Visit a link before it goes on your site.
  • Do-Make sure the link has value for your visitor
  • Do-Tell your visitor about the link- put some descriptive text with it
  • Do-Put the link in a logical place
  • Do-Make it obvious it is a link

The Don'ts

  • Don't-Link to sites even high traffic sites if they have nothing to with your business
  • Don't-Confuse links with content- Original content is much better
  • Don't-Claim link content as yours
  • Don't-Have broken links on your site- Check links peiodically to make sure they work
  • Don't take visitors off your site unnecessarily

The goals of having links on your site are to provide information that is helpful to the visitor, to supplement and enhance your content and to become a resource for visitors. Ultimately you want to build the value of your site so that others will link to your site thus helping boost you in the search engines. Having people link to your site is great but if your site has nothing of value it will not help you get the results you desire.
