Real Estate Results and Holiday Cards

I was just going through this year's stack of holiday Cards- a pretty meager bunch this year. Although we may not be the most popular people, in past years we would have a pretty good stack of cards by now. I started to wonder why things were different this year...

Thought One- Bad economy- people just aren't sending them because of the cost of the card, postage and the work involved.

Thought Two- Popularity- maybe we just aren't very popular. On further thought we really hadn't done anything that we could think of to make people take us off their list but it is possible.

Thought Three- Cards sent- we haven't sent our cards yet and maybe people weren't reminded that they really liked us and were just lacking that little reminder to send us a card.

All three thoughts have some merit and believe it or not, relate to real estate.

No doubt about it, the economy is bad and people are doing less spending and holiday card sending. This would reflect the slow down in the real estate market. This economy is just something we have to accept and deal with.

Popularity is a funny thing. No matter what you do or how hard you try there is a certain percentage of the population who don't like or appreciate you no matter what you do. This is human nature and applies to real estate.

Sending out our holiday cards today, I suspect, will bring a number of cards to our house later than usual but they will come. Ah the message is on its way... Sending cards or doing something will always produce more results than doing nothing.

Doing something doesn't necessarily just apply to sending holiday cards; it applies to your real estate business. You can't control the economy and you can't really control human nature but you can control your effort.

Our business is building agent websites so a not so subtle message would be to get a website, but don't stop there, put some effort into your site and make it one you would be proud of and that reflects how you approach your business.

Practicing what we preach and applying it to our holiday cards, we send out one of "those letters" but with a twist that people actually remember and read again. If you want to read a copy of this year's letter, send us a holiday card (address at the bottom of the newsletter) and you can receive your own copy plus our card.

Have a wonderful holiday season.

Tech Tip - When you write something that is intended to be read on a computer such as email or content on your website, use a sans serif font such as Arial. Sans serif fonts tend to be easier on the eyes. For print, serif fonts, such as Times New Roman, are preferred
