5 Mistakes To Avoid

Even the greatest salespeople in the world make mistakes. One of the difference between a
great salesperson and an ordinary one is that the great ones learn from their mistakes and
become better.

Here are 5 common mistakes and the lessons that can be learned.

Mistake #1. Not seeing the people. Real estate is at its essence a people business. Spend
time with people especially the one's who have bought and sold with you.

Mistake #2. Not closing when you have the chance. Even though real estate is a people business, it involves sales. You have to ask people to buy or sell. Sell the benefits or feelings people will get by buying or selling. Almost every time buying or selling is the right thing to do. Ask for the order. If it isn't the right thing to do, it is OK to tell them that also.

Mistake #3. Not backing up important data. Back up files or records now before you have a problem! Not sexy to do it now and to develop a system to do it systematically, but there will come a time in your real estate life where you will be really glad you did.

Mistake #4. Saying inappropriate things. Saying things that you don't mean or sending e-mails when you are mad can have devastating effects. Measure your words carefully. A lost good customer or friend can be financially painful and mentally awful.

Mistake #5 Not saying thank you often enough. Thank you is becoming a lost art. Say
thanks, send cards and notes saying thanks the return for this small act will be huge. Think how you feel when someone say thank you for something you did and think how you felt when someone didn't say thank you and benefited from something you did.

These five lessons are all based on incidents I had in a one month period. Take time to learn from your mistakes. We are all gong to make them. The most successful among us are going to do something about them.
