24 Commandments For Real Estate marketing- Part 1
Actually there are 24 commandments at least
but that seemed too many for one article. Over the years I
collected little phrases and when I compared these phrases to
successful real estate agents behavior, there was a pretty good
correlation. These commandments are general but apply them to
your real estate marketing also. So here they are in no
particular order.
Commandment 1- You be you. Don't try to be
anyone other than yourself. There are thousands of different
personalities and styles that work in real estate. Spend your
time doing what you do best.
Commandment 2- Figure out why people like
you. This is closely related to number 1 but takes a
little more introspection. Figure out why people are drawn to
you. Put yourself in situations where those people are.
Commandment 3- Wear the other guys shoes.
If you can put buyers in the sellers situation and visa versa
often times you can avoid ridiculous offers, keep negotiations
alive and get along better with the people you have to deal
with.
Commandment 4- Don't hang with losers. You
only have so much time and energy in the day, don't let
negative people waste yours. Seek out upbeat, positive,
successful people and draw on their energy.
Commandment 5- Have fun. People are drawn
to fun people. Have fun doing what you are doing. Make sure you
take time away from real estate and do something you really
like to do.
Commandment 6- Keep your focus on the
result. If you want to succeed, don't let the
obstacles get in the way of what you are trying to accomplish
for your clients and for you. Keep moving forward. Every
transaction has some obstacles to overcome, worry about how to
overcome not that they exist.
Commandment 7- Know the other guys job. The
most important thing to do is get the job done. (Make the
sale.) Every real estate transaction has lots of players. If
you have a good idea of what is supposed to be done, by who and
when, you are in a good position to head off problems before it
is too late. Also you will know when you come in contact with
exceptional participants and have them to refer to in the
future. This might be a good time to suggest that you
develop systems to track transactions.
Commandment 8- Do what everyone else does and you'll
end up like everyone else. Most agents don't make it
in real estate, so if you totally copy what others do your
results with probably be similar but worse since they have a
head start. Keep looking for better, more efficient ways to do
things that add value to your customers experience.
Study the eight commandments. They are simple yet sometimes
we lose our way. Look at everything that leads to real estate
success and look at it when you put together your real estate
marketing plan.
Part
2 will have 8 more commandments to help you find your
way.
